Change the default installation folder C: \ Program Files

By default, the installation of most software programs and is in the C: \ Program Files. For one reason or another, you want to change this folder by another (on another partition if disk space problem, for example). This trick allows you to do, while leaving the old functional programs installed on the default folder.

Click on the Start Menu> Run (or Windows key + R)

  • Type regedit and click OK.
  • Open the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion
  • On the right, double click on the key: ProgramFilesDir and modify the data in this key by the new path to the installation folder.
    • For example, enter the path D: \ Program Files, to change the partition on which the facilities are.
